2025 Listening Campaign
This fall, the Maryland Just Power Alliance (ACT, AIM, and PATH) are listening to thousands of people across the state of Maryland!
Purpose of the listening campaign:
To build new and strengthen existing relationships—these create the power to make change!
To identify key issues that community leaders are willing to act on for the 2026 elections and beyond.
To identify and develop community leaders who will take action to seek justice and social change.
Next Steps:
Leaders from each institution in ACT, AIM, and PATH will recruit teams within your institution (congregation, school, or community).
With your team, you will create a plan to organize listening sessions within your institution.
Contact your ACT, AIM, or PATH organizer to help you make this plan.
These could be large events after services, “house meetings,” or meetings with smaller subgroups like parents’ groups.
Make sure to meet with your clergy or leadership to get their buy-in.
At our Listening Campaign Launch on September 18, you and your team will announce how many people you commit to listening to.
Register here. More details and flyers here.
What Happens After Our Listening Sessions?
Our ACT, AIM, and PATH staff will look at the notes to identify the most common issues people brought up in their listening sessions.
We will use these common themes to develop our issue agenda for 2026 and beyond.
Our organizers will follow up with people who attended your listening session who are interested in taking action or have compelling stories.
With these folks, we will form issue action teams to research what campaigns we could work on to address these issues.
We will have an action in early 2026 with candidates for county and state offices. We will ask these candidates to commit to working on our issue agenda.
Thank you for embarking on this journey with us to build the deep relational power we need to create meaningful change in our state!
