This fall, the Maryland Just Power Alliance (ACT, AIM, and PATH) are listening to thousands of people across the state of Maryland!

Purpose of the listening campaign:

• To build new and strengthen existing relationships—these create the power to make change!

• To identify key issues that community leaders are willing to act on for the 2026 elections and beyond.

• To identify and develop community leaders who will take action to seek justice and social change.

Next Steps:

• Leaders from each institution in ACT, AIM, and PATH will recruit teams within your institution (congregation, school, or community).

• With your team, you will create a plan to organize listening sessions within your institution.

• Contact your ACT, AIM, or PATH organizer to help you make this plan.

• These could be large events after services, “house meetings,” or meetings with smaller subgroups like parents’ groups.

• Make sure to meet with your clergy or leadership to get their buy-in.

• At our Listening Campaign Launch on September 18, you and your team will announce how many people you commit to listening to.

What Happens After Our Listening Sessions?

• Our ACT, AIM, and PATH staff will look at the notes to identify the most common issues people brought up in their listening sessions.

• We will use these common themes to develop our issue agenda for 2026 and beyond.

• Our organizers will follow up with people who attended your listening session who are interested in taking action or have compelling stories.

• With these folks, we will form issue action teams to research what campaigns we could work on to address these issues.

• We will have an action in early 2026 with candidates for county and state offices. We will ask these candidates to commit to working on our issue agenda.
