More than 100 tenants at the Northwest Park Apartments in Silver Spring have submitted a letter calling on the Public Service Commission to move forward on a project bringing clean, affordable energy through a networked geothermal pilot.
New Coalition Launches to Lower Energy Bills with Clean Power as Heat Wave Intensifies and Shutoffs Loom
A record-breaking heat wave is worsening the energy crisis just as a moratorium on energy shutoffs is set to expire. In response, a new coalition, Bright Future Maryland, is calling for state leaders to bring costs down through clean energy, and healthier, more efficient homes, while holding data centers and utilities accountable as they reap record profits at ratepayer expense.
PATH Early Voting Action: Our Votes. Our Power. Our Values.
On the first day of early voting on Thursday, June 11, over 200 people rallied with PATH in the parking lot of St. John Baptist Church to encourage voter turnout in the primary elections.

Community Trust Act Passes!
We are excited that the Community Trust Act (SB791) passed the Maryland House and Senate!
This important law will stop local and state police in Maryland from collaborating with ICE.
Utility RELIEF Act Update
The Utility Relief Act (HB1532) passed this legislative session with the goal of reducing Maryland residents’ energy bills by $150 per year. We support some of the provisions in the final bill which aim to make energy cleaner and more affordable.
Victory for Immigrants’ Rights and Data Privacy
In the 2026 Maryland General Assembly session, we helped pass the Data Privacy Act (HB711) in coalition with CASA and other partner organizations!
$73 Million for Clean, Affordable Energy
Congratulations! This week, Maryland passed a state budget that includes $73 million for clean, energy efficient heat pumps to help families save on utility bills, improve air quality in their homes, and reduce pollution!
Leaders Act Against Proposed Utility Rate Increase
Eleven leaders from the Maryland Just Power Alliance testified against a proposed Washington Gas rate increase at the Public Service Commission hearing this week.

Rally in Annapolis for Healthy Homes + Climate Equity
On Thursday, February 26th, over 40 leaders from the Maryland Just Power Alliance rallied in Annapolis to ask state legislators to protect the Strategic Energy Investment Fund (SEIF) and use it for its intended purpose: investing in clean energy upgrades for long-term energy savings and healthier communities.
Advocating for Immigrant Protections in Annapolis
On February 24, ten leaders from the Maryland Just Power Alliance met with our State Senators and Delegates and attended a hearing to support the Data Privacy Act (SB0504).
Victory for Immigrant Protections: End of 287(g) Agreements
We were excited to celebrate the passage of emergency legislation on Tuesday, February 17th ending 287(g) agreements! These harmful agreements send local police to do the work of ICE.

Housing Forum with Comptroller Lierman
On January 14, over 100 people packed the room for our “How Housing Policy Shapes Maryland’s Economy” event, featuring Comptroller Lierman and co-hosted by PATH (part of the Maryland Just Power Alliance), the Horizon Foundation, Bridges to Housing Stability, Columbia Housing Center, and the Howard County Housing Affordability Coalition.
RENEW Act Victory!
Congratulations! On December 16, the Maryland General Assembly overrode the Governor’s veto and passed the RENEW Act!
